While not a full-scale image-editing tool, this somewhat limited program makes converting, resizing, and renaming batches of images a no-brainer. Image Thumbnailer and Converter lacks an aesthetically polished interface, but it couldn't be simpler to use. After opening either a single image or a folder full of them, you check a box depending on what task you want to perform, then click Continue.
The thumbnail creation tool allows you to determine image dimensions by entering numbers into boxes or with a handy slider tool. However, if you're resizing a batch of images, you're forced to make them all the same dimensions.
The conversion tool works well enough, but it only can output files in a couple of formats, including JPEG and BMP. While we appreciate the feature that automatically builds Web pages of picture indexes or thumbnails, we wish you could change the page's color and layout, as well as add captions to it. But if you routinely work with large batches of images and don't need any fancy editing tools, this application makes a suitable choice.
